During the Definitively Good Guide To Restaurant’s Awards, a number of restaurants stuck out for their specific contributions. 

Among them were Il-Kartell, La Mer and Al Sale, who were awarded the Most Dedicated to Supporting Local, Best Local Fish Restaurant & Best Local Wine List respectively. 

(These awards were sponsored by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights & Parliamentary Secretariat for the same.)

Meanwhile, Level Nine by Oliver Glowig won Best Restaurant in Gozo, as sponsored by The Ministry for Gozo. 

Level Nine also bagged Best Newcomer (as sponsored by Bookia), with the 1st place winner, de Mondion, also bagging Best Ambience and Best Service. The Phoenix won Best Food whereas Don Royale won the Most Children Friendly Restaurant. 

Diar il-Bniet bagged the best Maltese Restaurant as sponsored by The Malta Tourism Authority and Caviar & Bull won the Most Romantic Restaurant award. Last but not least, The Aft Galley, Busy Bee and Aki won the Best Value for Money Restaurant, Favourite Cafe and Restaurant with Liveliest Atmosphere respectively.

The Definitively Good Guide To Restaurants has determined the islands’ top 40 restaurants for the 2023/24 year. 

With De Mondion bagging first place, The Phoenix and Level Nine by Oliver Glowig rounded up the top three positions. La Mer and Sole by Tarragon closed up the top 5 spots for this year’s awards.

Spanning an impressive 20,000 square metres, this immersive experience has become a beloved annual tradition, attracting audiences far and wide with its faithful reenactment of the timeless Christmas story.

Over 100 dedicated actors bring the nativity scene to life, passionately embodying the characters central to the narrative of the birth of Jesus. This live nativity seamlessly weaves together Maltese folklore and traditions, creating a unique and authentic experience that resonates with both locals and visitors alike.

The event offers more than just a glimpse into the biblical story; it provides a sensory journey through Maltese culture. Attendees will find themselves immersed in the rich tapestry of the Maltese crib, an integral part of the island’s festive traditions.

From the intricate craftsmanship to the vibrant displays, ‘Betlehem f’Għajnsielem’ promises to be a memorable and heartwarming celebration of the season, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. As the sun sets over Gozo, this live nativity invites all to come together and experience the magic of the greatest story ever told.

De Mondion Wins Best Restaurant In Malta

Mdina’s Michelin Star restaurant ‘De Mondion’ has officially bagged The Definitely Good Guide’s Best Overall Restaurant Award. 

The awards were held on 4th December 2023 at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. With around 40 restaurants competing for the top spot, it was De Mondion who managed to bag the top prize for its food and overall concept. 

The one Michelin star restaurant is situated in Mdina’s Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux, boasting over 323,000 dining experiences throughout the year.
