President Myriam Spiteri Debono met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, and Trade of Antigua and Barbuda at San Anton Palace to discuss bilateral cooperation and shared interests despite the geographical distance between the two countries.
The meeting primarily focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, which had begun during the Covid-19 pandemic and remains a central point of discussion.
Additionally, they discussed Antigua’s role as the host of the upcoming fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States. Both parties agreed to explore further opportunities for collaboration between Malta’s Small States Centre of Excellence and Antigua’s Small Island Developing States Centre of Excellence once the latter is established.
Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Silvio Schembri was also in attendance at the meeting, emphasizing Malta’s commitment to fostering partnerships and collaboration with Antigua and Barbuda.
