It has been revealed that Malta’s iconic pastizzeria M.C. Sims will be opening in London.

The iconic bakery will be opening where Tequila Mockingbird was previously located, with the new outlet currently looking for staff ahead of the opening.

According to information tabled in parliament, 49 persons were taken to the ‘Young Offenders Unit’ in the year 2024 in Malta.

Responding to questions by MP Bernice Bonello, Minister Byron Camilleri revealed that in the previous year, 2023, there were 64 persons admitted to the Young Offenders Unit.

In 2015, the amount was 35, whereas in 2016, the amount was 60.

The number decreased to 34 in 2017, but increased again in 2018 to 54. In 2019, there were 77 individuals, and in 2020 there were just 7.

In 2021 the amount increased to 65 and in 2022 the amount was 16. That means that between 2015 and 2024, the amount was 461.

Ħamrun Spartans forward Raphael Lopes has been awarded the LifeStar MVP for January after an outstanding month.

The Brazilian striker delivered a standout performance, including a hat-trick in the team’s dominant 6-1 victory over Marsaxlokk.

He was named MVP in that match and again in Ħamrun’s 2-1 win against Hibernians.

In total, 32 votes were cast, with Lopes receiving seven, three more than Żabbar Saints defender Strahinja Jovancic, who finished second with four.

Born on May 18, 1999, the 25-year-old centre-forward joined Ħamrun Spartans last summer from Brazilian side Ipatinga.

He made his debut in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Lincoln on July 9, 2024, and has since made 20 appearances in the Maltese Premier League, scoring eight goals.

Before moving to Malta, Lopes played for several clubs in Brazil, including AA Portuguesa, Villa Nova, and Caldense, and had a brief stint in Portugal with SC São João Ver in 2020.

Taking to Estonia Eurovision winner Tommy Cash’s latest Instagram post, Malta’s Miriana Conte expressed her support for the stand-out performer.

Tommy will be representing Estonia in Basel with his song ‘Espresso Macchiato’, and is currently in 5th place on the Eurovision Odds.

Miriana is not far behind at 7th place, with Belgium’s ‘Strobe Lights’ by Red Sebastian in between the two.

In first place is also a ‘meme-ish’ song: Finland’s ‘Ich Komme’ (I’m Coming) by Erika Vikman.
