This year, Malta’s leading publishers Klabb Kotba Maltin are celebrating the 50th year since the launch of their first publication ‘Il-Gaġġa’ by Frans Sammut which was published back in 1971.
In his interview with The Times of Malta, son of Klabb Kotba Maltin Founder Pawlu Mizzi, publisher Joseph Mizzi recalled the trials and tribulations his father overcame when starting the publishing house.
Mizzi went on to highlight how the foundation of Maltese literature can be credited to the island’s political resurgence post-1960 and how reading trends changed over the years with publications increasing at an exponential rate.
Mizzi concluded his interview by applauding the resourcefulness and resilience of publishers during the pandemic and thanked the National Book Council for their support during such troubling times.
