Malta International Airport has once again been recognised among Europe’s top airports for service quality in the 5 to 15 million passenger category, marking its seventh consecutive year of distinction by Airports Council International.

The ranking is based on direct feedback from departing passengers collected through the globally recognised Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey, which evaluates 367 airports across 95 countries.

Alan Borg, CEO of Malta International Airport, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting that welcoming nearly 9 million passengers in a year while maintaining exceptional service standards is a testament to the team’s dedication.

“Despite record traffic and significant infrastructure upgrades, our team remained committed to delivering a smooth and enjoyable airport experience. I am proud to see Malta International Airport once again ranked among Europe’s best,” he said.

With an overall satisfaction score of 4.39 out of 5, the airport secured a place among the top 8 of 119 participating airports in Europe.

High ratings were received across most of the 34 key performance indicators, including terminal ambiance, cleanliness, staff courtesy, and ease of way-finding.

Additionally, the airport reported 560,553 passengers in February, reflecting an 18.2% increase over the same month in 2024, alongside notable growth in aircraft movements and seat capacity.

In Vittoriosa, the Public Works Department is carrying out three significant projects for the residents of Birgu. These include the regeneration and enhancement of an area in Triq San Lawrenz, the planning of infrastructure works set to begin in Triq Wenzu Dyer, Triq il-Lvant, and Triq Melchiorre Gafa, and the completion of the Regatta Club House construction.

With an investment exceeding one million euros, these long-awaited projects aim to improve the quality of life for local residents, provide top-level facilities for Regatta Club volunteers, and benefit the entire Vittoriosa community.

The regeneration of Triq San Lawrenz is now in its final phase, creating a communal space for residents to relax. Works have included replacing the surrounding wall, installing a new accessibility ramp, laying a concrete pavement, and adding four extra parking spaces.

Meanwhile, the Regatta Club House project is also nearing completion. Works have included constructing an additional floor, installing a lift for improved accessibility, upgrading doors and windows, and carrying out electrical, plumbing, and finishing works.

Additionally, the Public Works Department, in collaboration with the Water Services Corporation and the Birgu Local Council, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to undertake major infrastructure improvements in three key roads.

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, Omar Farrugia, highlighted that these projects reflect ongoing collaboration between Public Works, local councils, and voluntary organisations. He emphasised the importance of listening to communities to implement projects that enhance quality of life and safeguard local heritage.

Vittoriosa Mayor John Boxall expressed gratitude to the Public Works Department for addressing long-standing needs in Birgu and delivering projects highly anticipated by residents.
