Malta Ranger Unit Warns Against Illegal Quad Bike Off-Roading

The Malta Ranger Unit has reported a rise in illegal quad bike activity within Majjistral Park, urging both visitors and rental companies to respect the park’s regulations.
Rangers have observed an increasing number of unauthorised quad bikes being driven off designated roads, with some riders using the park’s walking paths. Such behaviour not only endangers visitors but also threatens local wildlife crossing the pathways.
Under S.L. 549.83 (Majjistral Park Site Regulations), unauthorised vehicles are prohibited. First-time offenders face court proceedings and fines ranging from €400 to €50,000.
The Ranger Unit emphasised that rental companies must clearly inform customers that quad bikes cannot enter restricted areas and must remain on approved roads. The park has signage at every entrance, and the boundary is marked on the official Google Map.
