The Central Bank of Malta has proudly issued a special set of three silver coins celebrating the historic Malta Railway, one of the island’s most iconic modes of transport. The official launch took place in May 2025 during a ceremony held at the Birkirkara Railway Museum.

Each coin in this exclusive set carries a face value of €10 and is struck in 0.999 fine silver.

Weighing 31.1 grams with a diameter of 38.61 mm, these proof-quality coins are presented in specially designed cases, making them highly prized among collectors.

The obverse side of each coin features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Malta, while the reverse showcases finely detailed depictions of locomotive engines that served Malta from 1883 to 1931. These reverse designs were created by renowned artist Miriam Mazzalli.

Minted by the Royal Dutch Mint, the collection is strictly limited to just 600 sets, adding to their exclusivity and historical significance.
