Apple Now Considers iPhone X ‘Vintage’

Apple Now Considers iPhone X 'Vintage'
Jul 3 2024 Share

Apple has added several of its devices, including the iPhone X, first-generation HomePod smart speaker, and first-generation AirPods, to its list of “vintage” products. This list includes devices no longer supported by Apple, typically five to seven years after they were last sold.

As noted by MacRumors, while repairs are still available for these products at Apple Stores and authorized service providers, support will end entirely after seven years, rendering them obsolete.

The iPhone X, launched in November 2017, marked the 10th anniversary of the iPhone with significant changes like reduced bezels, the removal of the Home button, and the introduction of FaceID. Powered by the A11 chipset, it also introduced Animojis.

Released in February 2018, the first-generation HomePod was designed to integrate with Apple Music and AirPlay. Despite its impressive sound quality, it struggled with smart home tasks, limiting its longevity.

Successors like the HomePod 2 and HomePod Mini addressed some of these issues.

The original AirPods, launched in December 2016, are considered the first true wireless earbuds and marked the end of the headphone jack on iPhones. Despite being supplanted by newer versions, their design has been influential, even inspiring competitors like Samsung.
