Malta Police Force Awards Ceremony Honours Service Over The Past Year

Minister Dr Byron Camilleri and Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà led a ceremony recognising Police Force members for exceptional service over the past year. Officers were nominated by their peers for bravery, dedication, and innovation.
New this year was the Best Social Media Photo Award, given to PS Dale Cassar for a heartfelt image that resonated with the public.
Awards included:
Officer of the Year: PC Christine Penza, Citizen Officer of the Year: Fr Raymond Bonnici, Team Award: Major Crimes Department, Leadership Award: Inspector Lydon Zammit, Innovation Award: PS Ian Terribile, Lifetime Achievement: PS Ismael Vassallo, Rising Star: PC Kylie Aquilina.
Several officers received commendations for acts of bravery, including PC Christian Bugeja, who saved a woman trapped in a school window shutter, and a team who rescued a boy stuck on playground equipment.
Minister Camilleri highlighted the importance of teamwork in these achievements, while Commissioner Gafà thanked all officers and community partners for their dedication.

The ceremony also acknowledged community groups and individuals supporting the Force, including Ambassador Frank Zammit and the Police Band’s performance for Pope Francis in 2024.
