Malta Launches National Water Resilience Campaign

Under the Mediterranean sun and in the presence of social partners, businesses, and civic leaders, Malta officially launched the Water Resilience Campaign, titled “Kull Qatra Tgħodd”, an initiative spearheaded by Maltese MEP Thomas Bajada, Rapporteur of the European Parliament’s Water Resilience Strategy.

The campaign seeks to change the way Maltese society views, values, and uses water, not simply as a resource, but as a human right, an economic pillar, and a symbol of collective responsibility.
“This campaign is not just about water. It’s about how we grow as a country. If we want Malta to remain strong, competitive, and sustainable, we must make water part of every decision, in every household, business, and field,” MEP Bajada, who is the lead of the European Parliament on the topic, told attendees.

With a backdrop of growing climate pressures, increased consumption, and evolving industrial demands, the campaign places a spotlight on three pillars: Quantity, Quality, and Innovation. It encourages investment in new technologies, digital efficiency, and sustainable water management, while also promoting free access to tap water in public spaces and civic engagement through partnerships with the private sector.
Businesses, producers, and community actors are invited to become Water Resilience Champions, sharing best practices, committing to sustainable usage, and participating in educational and outreach initiatives over the coming months.

“This campaign is a call to action for everyone: from hotels and factories to families and farmers. Because each drop counts, and each effort matters. Malta has always been resilient. Now, we lead again, for Europe, and for our future,” Bajada added.
The campaign will run through the end of 2025, with key events planned across public spaces, schools, and the private sector. It is being developed in collaboration with national stakeholders including Water Services Corporation and several industry leaders.
