Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced a new artificial intelligence-powered project aimed at improving public cleanliness and enhancing working conditions for employees in Malta’s Cleaning and Maintenance Division.
The announcement was made during a conference marking a €17 million investment in new equipment and celebrating workers’ contributions ahead of Labour Day.
The AI system will help optimise cleaning routes, monitor public spaces in real time and reduce physical strain on workers.
Environment Minister Miriam Dalli praised the initiative as a step toward a cleaner, healthier Malta, while Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield called it the foundation of Malta’s vision for 2050.
The project reflects the government’s broader push toward modern, efficient and people-focused public services.
