Malta International Food Festival 2025 is set to return with greater scale and flavour than ever before, offering a celebration of Maltese and international cuisine along with family-friendly entertainment.

Originally launched in 2015 in Mdina with around 5,000 visitors, the festival has grown significantly, now attracting over 40,000 locals and tourists annually. Its relocation to the Floriana Granaries in recent years has allowed for an even larger and more immersive experience.

Organised by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights in collaboration with the Malta Food Agency and private sector partners, this year’s edition will take place at the Granaries in Floriana (Il-Fosos) from Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th August, starting from 6:00pm daily.

Details of the festival were announced by Minister Anton Refalo, together with Festival Director Jonathan Pace and Robert Farrugia from Missio Malta, a charitable organisation that will benefit from donations collected during the event.

This year’s visitors will have the chance to enjoy over 1,000 different dishes prepared by around 40 kitchens representing cuisines from five continents. Naturally, Maltese cuisine will take centre stage, with a strong emphasis on promoting local products. Among the participants will be the Public Abattoir, showcasing traditional Maltese meat-based products such as mazzit and kirxa.

Minister Refalo highlighted that this is not just a food festival, but a celebration of flavours, culture, and identity. Over the five days, attendees will have the opportunity to sample dishes from across the globe while enjoying the best of Maltese culinary traditions. Minister continued saying, “This event also serves as a platform to promote fresh, local produce to Maltese citizens, foreigners, and tourists alike, while creating economic opportunities for farmers, herders, and producers from both Malta and Gozo.”
