As part of its strategic push to position Malta as a top-quality tourism destination, the Malta Tourism Authority partnered with TravelZoo to target the American market through a series of live-streamed broadcasts.

Hosted by well-known TV presenter Gabe Saglie, the campaign was timed to coincide with the 2025 Malta International Fireworks Festival, which concluded on April 30 at Valletta’s Grand Harbour.

Celebrating Malta’s 21st anniversary as an EU member, the festival featured over 85 local and international pyrotechnic teams, blending tradition with innovation to captivate large audiences.

The campaign’s highlight was a series of live streams broadcast across major US networks including NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX News, reaching nearly 33 million viewers.

Additional coverage appeared on platforms such as LiveNOW, iHollywood, and The Weather Channel, significantly boosting Malta’s visibility in the American market.

The festival’s prestigious Pyrotechnic Musical competition named Għaqda Piroteknika 10 ta’ Awwissu from Birgu, Malta, as the winner. Poland’s Nakaja Art and Italy’s Foti Fireworks took second and third place, with strong showings from teams representing France, the UK, and Mexico.

Held from April 22 to 30 at Grand Harbour and in Nadur, Gozo, the event introduced new elements, including the participation of local band clubs and a surprise finale featuring cutting-edge technology.

This campaign forms part of a broader initiative by VisitMalta and TravelZoo to promote Malta to premium travellers from the US, UK, and Canada, reinforcing its image as a culturally rich, year-round destination.
