Variety has named Malta as a potential dream location for the next James Bond film, highlighting the island’s stunning historic villages and sparkling Mediterranean coastline that continue to captivate Hollywood.

Recent productions such as Enola Holmes 3 and Jurassic World Rebirth have showcased Malta’s distinctive scenery to global audiences.

Addressing the idea of Malta becoming a location for Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated James Bond rebirth, Malta’s Film Commissioner Johann Grech told Variety, “It’s an ambition, it’s a dream.”

In the interview, Grech added that although only a few Bond films have briefly been shot in Malta, he hopes the island’s atmospheric forts, ancient streets, and world-class water tanks will feature more prominently in future productions.

With over a thousand locals now employed full-time in the film industry and new investments underway to train even more, Malta is rapidly cementing its status as a hotspot for major shoots. During the recent Mediterrane Film Festival regularly, industry heavyweights from Marvel, Amazon, A24, and Universal, were on the island to explore its production potential.
