Malta international defender Kurt Shaw is set to embark on a new chapter in his football career after signing with Italian Serie C club Sorrento Calcio.

Widely considered one of Malta’s most promising central defenders, the 26-year-old has long expressed his ambition to play abroad. That dream has now become reality following his move away from Hibernians, where he played a key role last season.

Shaw was instrumental in helping the Paolites secure the FA Trophy, scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over Birkirkara in the final, a win that guaranteed the club’s return to European football.

Despite Hibernians offering a new deal at the end of the season, Shaw opted not to renew his contract, choosing instead to pursue an opportunity overseas. Sorrento Calcio approached the Maltese defender with a two-year contract, which he officially signed after successfully completing a medical earlier this week in Italy.

With 134 appearances, 11 goals, and three assists in the Maltese Premier League, Shaw brings solid experience and leadership to his new side. He has also represented Malta’s national team on 29 occasions.

Shaw will now begin pre-season training with Sorrento as he prepares to test himself on Italian soil.
