Malta has made history by winning the World Team Shootout for the first time, defeating defending champions Wales 5–4 in a thrilling final in Ennis.

After three consecutive final defeats in previous years, Malta finally claimed the trophy, completing a remarkable “Revenge Tour” by beating all three teams that had previously denied them the title: Ireland (2022 champions) in the quarter-finals, Northern Ireland (2023 champions) in the semi-finals, and Wales (2024 champions) in the final.

Wales put up a magnificent fight in their attempt to defend the title, but it was Malta’s night. This historic victory marks a fairytale achievement for Maltese pool, finally seeing them lift the trophy after years of near misses.

Malta Pool Association said, “In a dramatic final, Malta edged Wales 5–4 to claim the World Team Shootout title for the first time after four consecutive final appearances. The team delivered a solid performance, maintaining momentum right up to the final gong.”
