Final stages of airport project: ‘delays beyond anyone’s control’

Infrastructure Malta revealed earlier today that they are officially entering the final stages of the rebuilding of the new Airport roundabout of the Kirkop Tunnels and Airport Intersection Project.

Announcing new reroutes for oncoming traffic to and from the area, Infrastructure Minister Aaron Farrugia addressed the project and work being done.

’80% ready’ the Minister said, adding that the ‘new routes can begin usage as of January of next year. Today we saw the courageous decisions and ambitious project which will improve the connections and security in the zone.’

Responding to questions, Farrugia said that certain criticisms over delays cannot be accepted as these are matters beyond anyone’s control.

Former prime minister and Labour MEP Alfred Sant had criticised the infrastructural management, calling the signage in the area primitive and dangerous. Farrugia said that they wanted people to still use the area due to airport connectivity.

Responding to these answers, Nationalist MP Adrian Delia critiqued the minister for not taking responsibility for the lack of infrastructural management. ‘The people pay for your incompetence’ said Delia.

The search is still on for beloved Golden Retriever Max, who was declared missing around 3 months ago.

Max belonged to a boy who had leukaemia and suffered partial blindness to his fighting the disease. Searches for Max, who was lost in the Hal Far area, were numerous as many sought to find the beloved pet.

Now, the owners of Max have once again issued a search warrant to find Max. ‘The only thing we wish for this Christmas is for Max to return home.’

‘Do a good deed this Christmas. If you have any information please contact us. A reward of €1,000 will still be given if Max is returned.’

As football club Inter spend time on the island getting ready for some exciting matches and other activities, the iconic Maltese tower cranes became an unsuspecting cameo in one of their TikTok videos.

As the team mates filmed a #BestFriendChallenge video for the social media platform, a crane stuck out pretty prominently in the background of the video.

Another one also wanted in on the social media limelight as it protruded onto the screen from the right hand sign.

Crane towers are, for better or for worse, an iconic sight in Malta as they highlight the various ongoing construction and infrastructural projects ongoing all over the islands.
