London has been named the best city in the world for 2023, marking the eighth consecutive year it has secured the top spot according to Resonance Consultancy.
This ranking is based on metrics like ‘liveability’, ‘lovability’, and ‘prosperity’, considering factors such as airport connectivity, parks, restaurants, nightlife, education, and GDP.
London’s rich cultural scene, including numerous museums and theatres, contributed to its high score. The newly opened Elizabeth line also bolstered its transportation network.
In second place is Paris, known for its sustainability efforts and preparations for the 2024 Olympics.
New York takes third place, expecting a staggering 61 million tourists in 2023. The full list of top cities includes Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, San Francisco, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Seoul.
London’s top position is attributed to its exceptional restaurants, extensive social media presence, and a significant number of luxury properties. Despite concerns over Brexit and the pandemic, the city has maintained its allure for investors and tourists alike.
The high number of luxury property sales in 2022 indicates continued interest from affluent buyers. While London’s success in these rankings is notable, it’s important to consider its impact on average residents, given factors like low corporation tax in the UK. Interestingly, London was the only UK city in the top 50, leaving out previous winner Edinburgh.
