Local restaurant ‘Marelli’ took inspiration by the recent banana artwork auction and duct-taped a cookie to their wall.

The Birkirkara outlet followed in the footsteps of Maurizio Cattelan, whose 2019 work ‘Comedian’ features a banana duct-taped to a wall.

Late November 2024, cryptocurrency platform TRON founder, Justin Sun, outbid everyone and bought the banana for $6.2 million – and ate it.

And it seems as though Marelli is attempting its own take on the art – or stunt, however you may see it.

‘Our bookie’, wrote the restaurant on the post shared to social media.

Will this cookie make the same hit as the banana?

Carey Rakes Up To €3 Million Annually For Hit Christmas Song

Carey Rakes Up To €3 Million Annually For Hit Christmas Song
Dec 2 2024 Share

Mariah Carey’s 1994 holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” remains a lucrative and cultural phenomenon three decades after its release.

The song earns Carey an estimated $2.5 to $3 million annually in royalties, contributing to over $60 million in lifetime earnings since its debut, according to Forbes.

Despite its initial ineligibility for the Billboard Hot 100 due to industry rules, the advent of streaming propelled the song to No. 1 in 2019, where it now returns every holiday season.

Hailed as the greatest holiday song of all time by Billboard, the track’s enduring popularity has cemented Carey’s status as the “Queen of Christmas.”

Beyond royalties, she capitalises on the song’s success through merchandise, sponsorships, concerts, books, and even an animated film. The song has been streamed over 1.8 billion times, adding to its legacy as a holiday staple.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Carey’s Merry Christmas album, celebrated with her third Christmas tour, Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time.

The 20-city extravaganza, featuring holiday classics and fan favourites, began on November 6 in California and concludes December 17 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, continuing the festive legacy of her iconic hit. As Billboard’s Gary Trust noted, “It’s not going away.”

Fiorentina’s Bove In Intensive Care After Collapsing On Pitch

Fiorentina's Bove In Intensive Care After Collapsing On Pitch
Dec 2 2024 Share

Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove, 22, collapsed during a Serie A match against Inter Milan, prompting the game to be abandoned in the 16th minute.

Play was halted as teammates and opponents signalled urgently for medical assistance. Bove was treated on the pitch before being stretchered off to a waiting ambulance and transported to Florence’s Careggi University Hospital.

Fiorentina confirmed that Bove is in intensive care under pharmacological sedation. Initial cardiological and neurological tests ruled out acute damage to his central nervous or cardio-respiratory systems.

His condition will be reassessed within 24 hours. Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso and Inter president Giuseppe Marotta expressed solidarity and urged for respectful privacy in this trying time.

Bove, on loan from Roma, has represented Italy at youth levels and scored his first Fiorentina goal in October against his parent club.

Messages of support poured in from teammates, Serie A, and his former club Roma.

This incident echoes a similar collapse earlier this year involving Roma defender Evan Ndicka. The Fiorentina squad and fans remain hopeful for Bove’s recovery, with Commisso affirming, “You’re a strong boy with a great character. Forza Edoardo!”
