BirdLife Malta kept the public up to date with the fate of the White Storks which roosted in Malta over the weekend, revealing that they have continued their northern migration to Italy.

The storks arrived in Malta to spend approximately 24 hours on the island, having been sighted soaring over various areas in the south of Malta before continuing their journey.

Members of the public kept close tabs with BirdLife Malta to ensure that the migrating birds were safe, prompting the NGO to issue thanks to all those who helped in the safeguarding of these birds.

Police officers had been called to the scene where the storks had roosted after a few shots were heard in the vicinity. Two persons were apprehended to be questioned after they were seen acting suspicious in the roosting zone.
