Formula One icon Lewis Hamilton is back in his winning ways, finishing first in his home Grand Prix for a record ninth time.
The Mercedes driver had to beat out current champion Max Verstappen and rising star Lando Norris to confirm another Silverstone and British Grand Prix win.
This is his first victory since December 2021, all the way back when he was battling Red Bull’s Max Verstappen every race weekend.
Hamilton, who was driving in his last British GP for Mercedes before his move to Ferrari next year, appeared to be in tears in the car as he told his team: “This means so much to me,” as they congratulated him over the radio.
The win must have come as a surprise for Hamilton, as even though the Mercedes team had a fast car, it seemed like Lando Norris’ Mclaren was the car to beat however due to some strategy mistakes by Norris and his team, Lewis Hamilton managed to finally end his no win streak.
