LESA officials praised for helping elderly man change tyre on his way to visit mum

The local community has gathered in praise of two LESA officials who assisted an elderly man in changing his tyre in Marsa.

The elderly man was reportedly on his way to visit his mother and had to stop his car in the vicinity of the St. Vincent De Paul residence in Marsa.

The two LESA officials stopped in their tracks to assist the man in changing his tyre before he went on his way.

A Facebook post published by the official LESA page thanked the officials for their exemplary actions and enacting their duty in the best way possible.

Multiple members took to the comments section of the post to thank the officials, praising the two’s actions and highlighting how it is not the first time that LESA officials went out of their way to help members of the local community.

The family of 15-year-old Ena Marie Mifsud is currently raising funds for the young girl as she battles against a brain tumour she was diagnosed with a few days before Christmas.

Mifsud is currently in London’s Great Ormond Hospital where she is undergoing what is reported to be around 9 months of treatment.

The courageous young girl will be cutting her hair and donating to London charity ‘Little Princess Trust’ as the Maltese government, Malta Community Chest Fund, Puttinu Cares and members of the local community continue to offer their financial and emotional support.

In an attempt to ramp up the financial aid, Ena Marie’s aunt Jeanette Zammit will be running 50 kilometres on her 50th birthday in order to raise funds.

A small excerpt from Zammit’s GoGetFunding page reports that the young girl remains positive and smiling in the face of such adversity, raising €27,262 from an initial goal of €5,000.

Zammit’s 50 kilometre run will take place on the 29th of January 2023.

40 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a reefer container on their way to Puerto Rico have been intercepted by Customs Malta at the Freeport.

The reefer container was en-route to Cairo from Puerto Rico, hiding 40 packets of cocaine, each containing 1 kilogram of the drug a concealed compartment.

The reefer was transporting a shipment of medical products.

“Customs Malta has been registering successes in the fight against cocaine trafficking, year on year, with 2019 recording a total of 750kg (in 13 separate seizures), 2020: 612kg (in 1 seizure), 2021:740kg (in 1 seizure) and 2022: 800kg and 1494kg in two separate seizures”, a statement by Customs Malta read.

After 7 hours of trekking and ferociously cold weather conditions, Labour MP Alex Muscat has successfully scaled Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.

“Success! I have arrived at the highest point of Africa’s highest mountain,” the MP stated in a jubilant Facebook post. He went on to thank all of the people who showed their support through continuous encouraging messages and also thanked anyone who donated before he announced the beginning of his descent.

The MP took on the personal challenge as an initiative to help the families and children in need, together with charity organisation Puttinu Cares, calling their work priceless.
