Legendary Maltese director Charles Stroud has passed away at the age of 75. Widely recognised as one of Malta’s most influential filmmakers, Stroud directed numerous acclaimed productions and inspired generations of local artists and storytellers.

His television work includes a broad range of notable drama series such as F’Baħar Wieħed, Anġli, Pupi, Kristu Fl-Iżbarra, Prima Facie, Riħ Isfel, F’Salib it-Toroq, Kristu tal-Kerrejja, Tgħanniqa, Nostalġija and Ulied il-Lejl. He also directed the film Carmelo, among many other projects, leaving a lasting mark on Malta’s cultural landscape.

Stroud was also instrumental in the Nationalist Party, particularly in the founding of the party’s television station, NET.

Tributes poured in from PN figures, including leader Bernard Grech, leadership contenders Adrian Delia and Alex Borg as well as the European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, all honouring his contributions.

Married to his wife Doris since 1976, he is mourned by his children and grandchildren.

Malta Daily extends its heartfelt condolences to the Stroud family.
