Prime Minister Calls Out PN ‘Behaviour’ In Parliament; Backs Minister

Prime Minister Calls Out PN 'Behaviour' In Parliament; Backs Minister

Speaking to journalists outside parliament, the Prime Minister said that he condemns the behaviour of the Nationalist Party in parliament, after they directly challenged the speaker with comments that were deemed ‘disparaging.’

Robert Abela said that this behaviour does not belong in the highest institution of the country, accusing the PN of directly challenging the speaker multiple times.

The PM said that the Opposition tried to create a political episode in an issue wherein maturity should instead reign in order to get what it wants.

He also defended Byron Camilleri’s work, saying that his work in areas like irregular immigration or the strengthening of the disciplined forces were exemplary.

This followed a parliamentary session, after which the Nationalist Party reiterated its calls for the resignation of Minister Byron Camilleri after 200kg of drugs were stolen from AFM premises.

The Prime Minister said that he was ready to answer all questions in regards to the issue

PN Urges Byron Camilleri To Resign; Says PM Should Take Action

Following a parliamentary session, the Nationalist Party reiterated its calls for the resignation of Minister Byron Camilleri after 200kg of drugs were stolen from AFM premises.

In comments to journalists, Opposition leader Bernard Grech said that the government is not in parliament to defend the Maltese people but its own interests.

‘What kind of government refuses to discuss a scandal like the one that unfolded in the past few hours, which resulted in 200kg of drugs circulating on our streets’, the PN asked in a statement.

‘This is how much the government cares about the health of the Maltese people—willing to defend one of its own at all costs while prioritising its own interests over those of the public.’

Grech urged Camilleri to resign or for the Prime Minister himself to remove him from his position. He also added that following this incident, every scandal concerning the Minister will fall upon the Prime Minister’s responsibility.
