Labour MEPs Call For Recognition of Palestinian State

MEP Alex Agius Saliba issued a statement saying that it is now more urgent than before for the Maltese government to recognise the state of Palestine.
‘After the genocide declared by Israel, the only way to stop all this is to give an international platform to the Palestinians’, said the MEP.
The call was echoed by other Labour MEPs Thomas Bajada and Daniel Attard.
Bajada said that he is satisfied that Malta decided to support the proposal by the Dutch government to reexamine the Association Agreement between the EU and Israel.
‘The killing of thousands of Palestinians – human beings – including children, and the blockade of humanitarian aid that is leaving millions to suffer from hunger and disease, is a reality we can no longer ignore. The United Nations has warned that 14,000 babies could die within 48 hours if adequate aid does not reach Gaza.’
On his part, Daniel Attard said that he cannot not write about the suffering of ‘our siblings in Gaza.’
‘Apart from the 20,000 boys and girls who were brutally killed in what is nothing less than a genocide in our time and before our very eyes.’
‘Why this cruelty against the innocent’, he asked. ‘Why are they to blame? Why this silence?’
