Kanye West has been suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after violating the platform’s policy on harassment, a spokesperson from Meta has revealed.
The 44-year-old was suspended from the platform for violating policies related to “hate speech and bully and harassment”, with Instagram deleting some of West’s posts following a recent spam-posting tirade targeting a number of media personalities such as late night show host Trevor Noah, who stated that the rapper’s behaviour ‘breaks his heart’.
Noah become the subject of West’s frustrations after the show host discussed West’s recent row with ex-wife Kim Kardashian and Saturday Night Live comic Pete Davidson. Meta spokesperson Joe Osborne told Reuters that Kanye West, who legally goes by the name ‘Ye’ would be prevented from posting, commenting or sending DMs for 24 hours and sustained that further action will be taken if West persists with his violation of policies.
Instagram’s community guidelines dictate that the platform has the right to remove content which contains “credible threats or hate speech, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone and repeated unwanted messages”.
