Jurassic World Cast and Crew Joins Forces with Żibel to Help Clean Up Malta

While filming scenes for the blockbuster Jurassic World: Rebirth in Malta, the cast and crew teamed up with local environmental NGO Żibel to carry out beach and ocean clean-up operations across the islands.

Producer Patrick Crowley explained that Universal Pictures organised clean-up days both in Thailand and Malta as part of their commitment to give back to the communities that played a crucial role in the film’s production.

Żibel CEO and co-founder Andrew Schembri highlighted that during a ghost net recovery operation, divers used lift bags to successfully extract over 150 discarded fishing nets from various reef sites around the Maltese islands, a significant contribution to marine conservation efforts.

Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson, who features in the film, described the experience as inspiring, adding that it was “amazing to see how well everybody worked together to make stuff happen with the common goal to create something magical, both on screen and for the environment.”
