“Our vision is clear. Every child, regardless of their unique abilities, deserves not only a high standard of living but a quality of life without limitations.”

This was the central message conveyed by Prime Minister Robert Abela during the unveiling of an art exhibition at the Berġa ta’ Kastilja as part of the VB ArtBeat project, which promotes artistic talents among children and young people with disabilities.

This initiative, supported by The Malta Trust Foundation, is funded under the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS).

Before delivering his address, Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by his wife Dr. Lydia Abela, toured the exhibition with the Foundation’s Founder and President Emerita Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, meeting the artists and their families.

Prime Minister Abela emphasized that hosting this exhibition at the Berġa ta’ Kastilja underscores the government’s commitment to fostering inclusivity by providing a platform for children and young people with potential.

He commended the displayed artworks created by children and young individuals, inspired by principles and concepts associated with Villa Bianca, a facility managed by The Malta Trust Foundation with government backing to empower children and young people with disabilities through artistic expression.

Prime Minister Abela highlighted the therapeutic benefits of various art forms for young people and children, underscoring the importance of providing opportunities for all individuals, including those with disabilities.

He praised the Foundation for its commendable work and celebrated the initiative at the Berġa ta’ Kastilja as a tribute to creativity. Musical performances by children and young participants from Villa Bianca added to the event, with Minister for Inclusion and Voluntary Services Julia Farrugia Portelli and President Emerita Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca among those in attendance.

Peppi Azzopardi & Ray Żażu Farrugia Banners Erected In Floriana

Peppi Azzopardi & Ray Żażu Farrugia Banners Erected In Floriana
Apr 10 2024 Share

If you made your way to Floriana today, you might have noticed banners honouring personalities from Floriana, who made a name for themselves in various sectors of society.

Most notably, as proposed by PN local councillor and minority leader James Aaron Ellul, were Xarabank host Peppi Azzopardi and football coach Ray Żażu Farrugia, who also coached the Maltese National team, whilst also having a successful footballing career as a player. Farrugia also went on to open his own football school.

Azzopaardi and Farrugia weren’t the only established figures from Floriana with banners erected.

In fact, as proposed by other Floriana local councillors, and as voted by all council members, amongst the established figures, one could also notice banners of Alfred Mansueto, Joan Abela and Hon. MP Davinia Sammut Hili, amongst others.

Do you think every locality should do something like this when celebrating their feast?
