Contrary to online rumors, Jim Carrey has no plans to reprise his role as the Grinch in a sequel to the 2000 live-action film “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
Recent reports suggested a sequel was in the works with Carrey returning, but his representative dismissed these claims, stating there is no truth to the rumors.
Carrey originally portrayed the Grinch in the 2000 adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s book, directed by Ron Howard. The film also featured Taylor Momsen, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Molly Shannon, and Anthony Hopkins.
While the story was later animated in 2018 with Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice star, Carrey expressed his retirement from acting in 2022 during interviews for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.”
He mentioned taking a break, emphasizing his enjoyment of a quiet life, painting, and focusing on his spiritual well-being.
Carrey clarified that while he might consider a compelling script, he feels content with what he has accomplished in his nearly four-decade-long entertainment career.
