
Replay, one of Malta’s leading sports news platforms, have exclusively revealed that Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is expected to be at Ta’ Qali for next Friday’s game, to see his son James make his Malta National Team debut.
By tomorrow, all Maltese players based abroad are set to arrive, and it is widely understood that none of them will be omitted from the final 26-man squad.
Among them is James Carragher, an English-born defender of Maltese descent, who could make his debut for Malta against Finland. Carragher, the son of former England international Jamie Carragher, recently obtained his Maltese passport.
The 22-year-old was in action for Wigan Athletic in their last League One match, playing the full match as a right-back in a 2-1 away defeat to Charlton Athletic.
The match against Finland, a 2026 World Cup qualifier, will take place at the National Stadium on Friday, 21st March, at 20:45, with South End Core supporting from Millennium Stand Sector D.
