Italian authorities say Etna eruption poses no danger

Following Mount Etna’s eruption, intimidating clouds of smoke and ashes covered the Catania skyline but Italian Authorities have revealed that it poses no immediate danger to surrounding areas.

Stefano Branco, head of INGV National Institute for Geophysics and Vulcanology stated that they’ve seen worse and that the volcanoes activity was nothing to worry about.

Despite this, a decision was made to temporarily close the Catania international airport and the situation will be closely monitored to assure overall safety.

Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy has risen to the top of our list when it comes to quirky superhero series and every season finale leaves us on the edge of our seat waiting for the next update, and that may be soon.

Series star Elliot Page posted an umbrella logo with the number 3 Instagram, captioned ‘Omg we’re back again’, which means that the squad are on set once more.

“Gozo is next”: Gozitan-American filmmaker protests Gozo construction works

Youth activists have spoken out against the recent proposal for a block of 71 apartments and 74 garages in a dead-end street in Nadur, stating that further development will destroy Gozo’s natural beauty.

In a series of articles, journals and media, the young activists have called for the objection of the Nadur Development, with Gozitan-American filmmaker Chelsea Muscat making a touching short film highlighting the island’s exceptional wonder and the danger it is in.

As the church bells ring and birds chirp, the droning noise of construction work increases in Gozo and these activists want to do something about it and urge anyone interested to join the cause.

199 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 89 recoveries

Malta has registered 199 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 3,207 swab tests, while 80 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Tuesday 16th February 2021, 55,709 vaccine doses were administered of which 17,843 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 20,246 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 17,523 have recovered, 298 died and 2,425 are still active.
