According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Meta Platforms’ Instagram suffered a significant outage affecting thousands of users. At its peak, more than 5,000 users in the United States reported difficulties accessing the popular photo-sharing platform.
This recent incident comes on the heels of a widespread outage earlier this month, when both Facebook and Instagram experienced worldwide issues on March 5th. Users encountered problems with logging in, being unexpectedly logged out, and experiencing trouble refreshing pages. Some users were even prompted to change their passwords.
During the March 5th outage, Facebook experienced over 550,000 reports of disruptions, while Instagram faced approximately 92,000 reports at its peak. These outages, lasting for more than two hours, were attributed to technical issues.
Downdetector compiles outage reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors, to monitor service disruptions across platforms.
