Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia recently visited members of the Opening Doors Association as they finalise preparations for their annual production Visible Voices.

The association, the only one in Malta offering performing arts training for adults with intellectual disabilities, has received €20,000 through the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) to support the production.

Visible Voices will take place over three consecutive evenings—23, 24, and 25 May—at Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. The performances will feature a blend of music, dance, and theatre, all created and performed by Opening Doors members alongside professional artists trained in inclusive arts.

The Minister praised the production, highlighting the role of inclusive theatre in empowering individuals and promoting social integration.

Each night of the production will feature a different lineup, combining Opening Doors groups with invited artistic collaborators, including Inclusive Ltd., Claire Tonna, and students from the University of Malta.

The initiative not only showcases artistic ability but also fosters collaboration and creative exchange between diverse communities. Admission is free, and tickets can be reserved online via Spazju Kreattiv’s website.

The event supports broader efforts to enhance inclusion through art and volunteering, aligning with the Ministry’s commitment to visibility and opportunity for persons with disabilities.
