Id-Dar tal-Providenza To Celebrate 60th Anniversary With Vocal And Instrumental Concert

Id-Dar tal-Providenza will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding by Mgr Mikiel Azzopardi, coinciding with the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, with a vocal and instrumental concert on Friday, 28 November 2025, at 7:30 pm at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St Paul in Mdina.
The concert, held under the distinguished patronage of H.E. the President of Malta, Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono, and the Auxiliary Bishop, Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, will be performed by the Band of the Armed Forces of Malta under the direction of its Musical Director, Major Jonathan Borg.

For this special occasion, two musical works have been composed and will be performed for the very first time: 60 Sena ta’ Storja: Id-Dar tal-Providenza by Mro Nicholas Vella, and Tama by Mro Antoine Mercieca. The programme will also feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner, Frank Erickson, Lowell Mason, Morten Lauridsen, Peter A. Yon, Stephen Adams, Carl Coberg, and Maltese composer Tano Monseigneur.
During the evening, the winner(s) of the Mons. Mikiel Azzopardi Award will be announced. This award recognises the contributions of individuals and groups in supporting persons with disabilities.
