Huge crowds gather in Ta’ Qali for Labour Party rally

With the official polling day being less one week away, huge crowds have gathered at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali for the Labour Party event named ‘Together in Concert’.

The event forms part of Labour’s ‘Malta Flimkien’ campaign and is one of the party’s major events ahead of the March 26th election day. Party supporters in the hundreds lifted their flags up high ahead of the arrival of labour Party Leader and prime Minister Robert Abela whilst Labour supporter page ‘Laburisti Pożittivi Progressivi u Liberali‘ has since posted a video of the event.

The full event will be streamed live from the ‘Partit Laburista’ Facebook page and will also feature an address from Robert Abela, amongst other speakers.

Thousands of applications for Pope’s Floriana Mass in April

Thousands of people applied to attend the Mass which Pope Francis will be leading during his visit to Malta during the first weekend of April.

The Curia released a statement in which it published the artist’s impression of the stage which will be constructed on the Granaries in Floriana for the 3rd April Mass.

The stage was inspired by the form of the crucifix, with rays emanating from it to represent the eucharist. 16 meters wide and 14 meters deep, it will accommodate 600 priests as purple takes the stage as the predominant colour given the visit will take place during Lent.

The crucifix known as Kristu tal-Gogi will be installed at the centre of the stage. It is usually held at the chapel at the archbishops’ curia and belongs to the St Nicholas church of Valletta.

An icon of Our Lady will be also placed at the side of the altar. It was brought over to Malta in 1530 by its owner Joanna Calamia.

The curia has said that applicants will receive an email with a ticket that needs to be presented on the day. It also appealed to attendees to use public transport and arrive as early as possible.

The mass will start at 10:15am, with the stage designs by Carlo Schembri in collaboration with Joe Bondin. Anton Attard is responsible for logistics.

Elderly Ukrainian woman kills Russian soldiers with poisoned pie

Around 8 Russian soldiers have reportedly been killed after they were fed a poisoned pie by an elderly Ukrainian woman.

A Ukrainian official allegedly shared the report via mobile communication after intercepting a phone call between a Russian soldier and his girlfriend back home.

In it, the Russian soldier explained to his loved one how some of his brothers in arms were fed a pie by a Ukrainian woman after they had been starving.

The pie was however poisoned, resulting in the death of around 8 soldiers. It is unclear how the woman managed to get the pie to the soldiers, and official confirmations as to the incident are as of yet unreleased.

The news was met with considerably mixed reactions, but many highlighted that it could in fact constitute a war crime on the part of the woman.

The war in Ukraine continues on as millions flee their home country to seek refuge in other lands. Recent developments indicate some progress in negotiations between the country leaders, but Putin’s forces are still not retreating back, extending the suffering of millions.

Zaren to give €3,000 to men to ‘grow any body part they like’

Addressing a political meeting in New 31 Bar in Birkirkara, small party leader Zaren tal-Ajkla revealed that he is extending the implants pledge to men as well.

Yes, you read that correctly. First explaining how a woman who wishes to have breast implants shouldn’t be deprived of the possibility, Zaren Bonnici said that men will be given financial aid to grow any body part they would like.

Whereas women will be given €4,000, men will be given a still hefty sum of €3,000 to utilise in any way they wish when it comes to surgery. The reveal was met with many cheers by those attending his political rally.

Speaking at the bar, the meeting was set to take place outside but was moved indoors due to bad weather. Zaren said he is proud to represent women through this pledge and that, unlike the major parties using tents, he interacts with the Maltese people personally.
