Once again, the employees of HSBC Bank Malta have united to demonstrate their unwavering support for the community.

This time, they have generously donated thousands of clothing items as part of the monthly initiative organized by the HSBC Malta Foundation and the Soup Kitchen in Valletta.

The Soup Kitchen, which began its essential services in August 2021, has proven to be a lifeline for individuals facing tough times and in dire need of assistance.

In the year 2022 alone, it served a staggering number of 30,450 people, including 220 children. Apart from providing nourishing meals to those in need, the Soup Kitchen, in collaboration with the HSBC Malta Foundation, hosts a monthly clothes bazaar for the benefit of the community.

The clothing items, thoughtfully collected from HSBC staff members through a coordinated drive, are meticulously sorted based on gender, size, and other practical attributes such as weather suitability.

On the first Friday of every month, a diverse selection of clothes is delivered to the Soup Kitchen, where they are presented for visitors to browse through. HSBC team members lend a helping hand, assisting visitors in finding clothing items that meet their specific requirements.

The primary objective of this bazaar is to cater to a wide range of needs, whether it be someone seeking attire for an interview, court appearance, or simply a change of clothes for a special occasion. As the bazaar enters its sixth month, it has become a relied-upon resource for those who cannot afford new clothing.

This initiative exemplifies just one of the many Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavors undertaken by the HSBC Foundation, as it endeavors to make a positive impact within the community.

Glenn Bugeja, HSBC Malta Manager Corporate Sustainability, expressed delight in supporting the Soup Kitchen’s remarkable work. He emphasized how this initiative allows HSBC colleagues to give back to the community and create meaningful connections with those in need.

The Soup Kitchen depends on generous donations and the dedication of volunteers to sustain its operations and regularly welcomes employees from various companies for Corporate Social Responsibility events.
