How Big Is Malta, Really? You Can Walk Across It in Less Than a Day

You might think countries are huge, with cities, mountains and motorways going on forever. But what if we told you that one country is so small, you could walk across it in less than a day? Yep, that place is Malta!
Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world, but it has a big personality. The main island of Malta is only about 27 kilometres long and 14 kilometres wide. That’s shorter than a school bus ride that takes too long on a Monday morning.
If you were to walk from the southern tip (say, Marsaxlokk) to the top (like Mellieħa), it would take you around 6 to 7 hours, depending on your pace and snack breaks. That means you could wake up, eat breakfast, pack a sandwich, and be at the other end of the island before dinner!
Even more amazing, you could drive across Malta in less than an hour if traffic behaves. In fact, some people go swimming at one beach in the morning and end the day at another one on the other side of the island. Easy!
But don’t let the size fool you. Malta is packed with history, beaches, temples, forts and festivals. You could spend weeks here and still not see everything. It’s like a tiny treasure chest bursting with surprises.
So, how big is Malta? Small enough to walk across in a day, but big enough to blow your mind!
