Hottest Day Of The Year? Temperatures To Hit 40°C Today!

Is today set to be hottest day of the year? According to the official Meteorological Report, temperatures today are expected to soar to a whopping 40°C, and feel even hotter at around 42°C!
As a heatwave hits the Maltese Islands for this week, locals have also started to receive extreme heat warnings thanks to a new Health Ministry initiative.
The messages, sent as Public Alerts on locals’ phones, warn against the excessive heat and give short but immediate tips on how to combat the sizzling temperatures.
‘Avoid direct sunshine. Stay in cool surroundings. Drink plenty of water often’, the warnings urge.
The plan was announced yesterday, July 21st, by the Minister for Health Jo Etienne Abela, along with a public awareness campaign and a coordinated response by agencies within the Ministry remit.
For those most at risk, particularly people with certain medical conditions, the Ministry has opened Day Centres in various locations across Malta. These centres provide a safe, cool environment and are coordinated by the Primary Care Support Centre.
