Home Affairs Minister can no longer withhold names of people who purchase a Maltese citizenship

The Government has now removed a clause which had previously allowed the Minister for Home Affairs to withhold names of certain people who bought a Maltese citizenship under extraordinary circumstances.

The government had received a significant number of comments and concerns and has now removed the problematic clause.

People seem to be flocking to Gozo ahead of New Year’s Eve.

People have also reported that farmhouses in Gozo are fully booked ahead of the New Year.

Malta among the first EU countries to ban certain single-use plastic products

Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia announced that Malta is now within the first EU countries to ban single-use plastic products.

The ban will start on the 1st of January 2021.

The ban will apply to products such as plastic bags, cutlery, straws, plates, cotton buds, food containers, and stirrers.

Bars and clubs are to remain closed until the 1st of January

Professor Charmaine Gauci said today during a conference that bars and clubs will remain closed until the 1st of February.

A legal notice will be issued later on today following the extension of closure of bars and clubs.
