Hiker Rescued After Getting Lost at Slugs Bay

Civil Protection Malta launched a search and rescue operation yesterday afternoon after receiving a distress call about a man lost while hiking at Slugs Bay. Rescuers from Fire Station 3 responded swiftly, locating the hiker beneath the edge of a cliff at Aħrax tal-Mellieħa.

To ensure the man’s safe return, rescuers from Fire Stations 5 and 6 provided critical assistance by sea, successfully bringing the hiker back to shore without injury. The operation demonstrated the effective coordination between land and sea teams, ensuring a swift and safe rescue.

Civil Protection Malta expressed gratitude to the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department for their support throughout the operation. Thanks to the collective efforts, the hiker was safely rescued and received the necessary care.

This incident highlights the importance of caution when hiking in remote areas and the readiness of rescue teams to act in emergency situations. Civil Protection Malta continues to remind the public to take necessary precautions when exploring Malta’s natural landscapes.

The two recreate a popular trend wherein someone jumps over a phone and invites the other person to join them.

However, the twist is that now her son will have to go to school alone after the summer months. His mum is of course there to encourage him as her two sons both restart their education.

Yesterday, the Island Car Club held the eagerly awaited 5th round of the National Hillclimb Championship at Girgenti, on the outskirts of Siggiewi.

After the summer break, the event attracted a large number of spectators keen to witness the exciting competition, which featured around 70 vehicles, including race-prepped cars, modified vehicles, and street-legal contenders.

The highlight of the day came from Christian Azzopardi, who secured overall victory in his Radical Clubsport with an impressive time of 35.394 seconds.

Azzopardi has maintained his dominant form this season, consistently proving his prowess on the track. Terence Vella, also driving a Radical Clubsport, put up a fierce fight but finished a fraction behind with a time of 35.508 seconds. Jean Vella, piloting a Jedi F1000, claimed the final spot on the podium with a time of 36.507 seconds.

The LEGO Group and Formula 1 have officially announced a multi-year partnership, set to launch with the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. This collaboration aims to bring the thrilling world of Formula 1 to younger fans and families through LEGO’s innovative and inclusive approach to play.

The partnership will feature a range of LEGO products representing all ten F1 teams, catering to a wide age range, from LEGO DUPLO sets for preschoolers to more advanced builds for older fans. Alongside the product line, LEGO plans to create immersive experiences at key Grand Prix races, allowing fans to engage with Formula 1 in new, interactive ways.

With Formula 1’s growing popularity among younger audiences, LEGO’s Chief Product & Marketing Officer, Julia Goldin, expressed excitement about enhancing fan connections through the magic of creative building. Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer, Emily Prazer, emphasized that the collaboration will inspire creativity and deepen passion for the sport.

The full rollout of LEGO sets and experiences will coincide with the 2025 F1 season, allowing fans to recreate iconic race moments while learning about the engineering marvels behind Formula 1.
