Positive Run For Malta National Team After 2 Draws

Positive Run For Malta National Team After 2 Draws
Mar 27 2024 Share

In a friendly against Belarus, Malta’s national team showcased resilience despite a goalless draw. Despite facing a higher-ranked opponent, Malta maintained optimism after their recent draw against Slovenia.

They displayed attacking prowess, creating numerous scoring opportunities, with Kyrian Nwoko notably hitting the upright with a header.

Belarus struggled to break through Malta’s defense, with Artem Shumanski missing a clear chance. Despite the stalemate, Malta’s performance was commendable, especially considering key players Teddy Teuma and Jodi Jones were absent.

The inclusion of Kemar Reid showed promise with his pace and power upfront. Coach Michele Marcolini made strategic changes, giving opportunities to new players like Carlo Zammit Lonardelli.

Malta started brightly, with several near misses including Reid’s shot narrowly missing the target.

Despite Belarus’s attempts, Malta continued to press forward, with Nikolai Muscat’s powerful drive posing a threat. Although the match ended goalless, Malta’s determination and attacking intent bode well for future competitions, including the UEFA Nations League starting in September.
