Speaking with Malta Daily, Adrian Delia highlighted what would become his main concerns if he were elected to the leadership.

The first issue he plans to tackle, he said, is that of youth not believing in Malta and looking forward to their future abroad.

He said that Malta’s most valuable resource is the human one and that we cannot let this slip away.

Secondly, the environmental issues, he said, need to be tackled.

He highlighted how Malta’s air is the second most polluted in the EU. He said that despite a climate emergency being unanimously acknowledged in parliament, there does not seem to be a tangible plan to deal with it.

‘I want to walk in the shade’, he said, saying that this shade needs to be that of trees and not buildings.

He also said that there are projects which could take place, including afforestation. He made reference to Columbia’s city of Medellín, where afforestation projects managed to reduce the climatic temperature by 2 degrees Celsius.

He said that these two issues are linked as environmental degradation prompts more youth to look elsewhere. He also said that the second issue leads to health problems, including pulmonary diseases.
