As tensions heated during the intensely eventful Euro 2020 final, police presence could be seen in several venues most susceptible to gatherings. As many took to bars to watch and the streets to celebrate Italy’s win, police were on site to make sure that COVID-19 regulations were adhered to by football fans.

Videos emerged throughout the night of a confrontation between the two opposing fan bases in St George’s bay. Police could be seen in the centre keeping the interactions from escalating. Police commissioner Angelo Gafa had stated earlier this week that the final should be treated as an election, magnifying police presence due to the foreseeable celebrations and gatherings.
