Hibernians put out a solid display and managed to hold Latvian champions FK RFS at a 1-1 draw despite only playing with ten men for the majority of the game.

Hibernians started the game on top but doubts quickly rose when, in the 26th minute, Brazilian right back Thylon received his second yellow card of the game and had to be sent off. Despite the numerical disadvantage the Maltese champions managed to score a first thanks to Dunstan Vella.

The star man for Hibs however was keeper Ibrahim Kone who massively stepped up in the second half, saving a penalty and other chances. The hosts finally equalized in the 85th minute, meaning that the teams will enter their next game in Malta next week on equal terms.

Things were a bit more unfortunate for Ħamrun Spartans as, after performing at a very high level against Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia, the Spartans conceded in the last minute to make the result a 1-0 win for Levski.

After a very rocky start wherein Levski Sofia fortunately missed a penalty in the 11th minute, Ħamrun found their stride and looked more comfortable.

They had numerous chances to open the scoresheet but they lacked the composure to finish off their chances. The goal Ħamrun conceded in the 94th minute was scored by Filip Krastev, who managed to find the ball in the box from a rebounded shot and calmly guided it in the goal.

Ħamrun were the only Maltese team out of the three still in European competition to play in Malta this week. This time around they played in Ta’ Qali after a request was sent to the MFA to change the venue to allow more fans to watch the all important game. The massive turnout of Ħamrun fans made sure their support was heard all throughout the ninety minutes as they tried to lead the Spartans players to a surprising goal.

Hibernians will be hoping for a similar reception to that of Ħamrun as they welcome FK RFS to Malta next week as they search to become the first ever Maltese team to make the playoff round. The Spartans will be eyeing a historic come back in Sofia to rewrite the history books and also make the playoff round.

Gaga will be taking on a role which has, as of late, become highly associated with actress Margot Robbie. The latter had starred in The Suicide Squad franchise as the clownish character, but this isn’t the first time multiple actors took on the same character in the DCEU.

Gaga had been in early talks to play the character in June, with writer-director Todd Philips sharing the title of the sequel that same month. The first movie was not intended to have a sequel, but its success prompted the decision.

The 2019 R-rated Joker movie was a surprise smash hit at the box office, which earned $335.4 million domestic and $1.074 billion worldwide from a $55 million budget.

Despite its size, Malta is an island filled to the brim with local talent and The Unconventional Office (UCO) has set its sights on giving said talent the platform it oh so truly deserves.

Launching this August, UCO’s first season brings together a team of creative minds centred around a Volkswagen T25, releasing a total of 20 episodes composed of 10 local acts taking part in 10 bite-size performances and 10 interviews on YouTube.

UCO was first conceived around 4 years ago whilst its Director and Creator Neo Borg Bonaci would have conversations with friends. A search on MaltaPark and a few years of restoration later, The Unconventional Office was born, ready in its teal and off-white glory to host a new concept roving from location to location around the Maltese Islands and, eventually, beyond.

The gorgeous episodic series will welcome a roster of local talent for a number of mini-concerts and interviews which bring together the process and artistic output together in a relaxed setting, complemented by an immersive visual narrative which highlights the sounds of Malta’s finest alternative artists.

Through The Unconventional Office, the team also aims to promote the natural and historic landmarks of the Maltese Islands through stunning videography. In line with this appreciation for our natural heritage, UCO has also teamed up with a local NGO to aid them in promoting the incredible work they do to promote sustainability throughout the Maltese Islands.

This series will be launched on 9th August, 2022 at 4pm and will air on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Malta Police Union welcomes new policy where tattoos ‘are not considered a taboo any longer’

Malta Police Union welcomes new policy where tattoos ‘are not considered a taboo any longer’

The Malta Police Union has welcomed the Malta Police Force’s newly-published policy regarding tattoos.

“The Union is pleased that finally, the policy has been published and Tattoos are being regulated and not considered a taboo any longer”, the union wrote.

The Police Force’s previous position on tattoos stirred quite a lot of controversy around the Maltese Islands, with many highlighting how tattoos do not change the nature of the person and considering them as ‘taboo’ is an incorrect mentality. Do you welcome the new changes?
