Ħamrun Spartans’ Europa League journey ended with a 3-1 defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Topola Stadium, leaving them 5-2 down on aggregate.
Despite a spirited display and several clear chances, including a first-half penalty miss by Emerson Marcelina, the Maltese side could not find the net at crucial moments.
Ido Shahar scored twice for Maccabi, while Osher Davida added a third after the break. Joseph Mbong had briefly equalised for Ħamrun before half-time, but the visitors quickly regained control.
Coach Giacomo Modica’s side now shift focus to the UEFA Conference League, where they will face RFS Riga in the Play-Off round, still harbouring hopes of historic qualification to the League Phase.
