Hamrun Spartans appeal for caution and responsibility ahead of MFA decision

Ahead of the Malta Football Authority’s decision on the fate of the Maltese Premier League, Hamrun Spartans Football Club have communicated a message to their supporters, appealing for caution and responsibility in light of the ongoing pandemic.

As the Maltese Premier League hangs in the balance, many are concerned over potential celebrations to be held, with last year’s Floriana celebrations causing a ruckus online and raising multiple health issues.

Hamrun Spartans, together with the Hamrun Local council will have been holding meetings with the Malta Police Force to ensure that Health Directives are followed, condemning any planned illegal activities.

Malta has registered 48 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,036 swab tests, while 53 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Thursday 8th April 2021, 232,335 vaccine doses were administered of which 65,205 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 29,511 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 28,561 have recovered, 401 died and 549 are still active.

Two Maltese restaurants awarded Michelin star as total rises to five

2021’s Michelin Guide Malta is finally out and two new restaurants have been granted the prestigious Michelin Star, bringing the total up to five.

The new Michelin-awarded guide are Bahia in Lija and ION – The Harbour in Valletta and have been hailed for their quality ingredients & produce and attention to detail and join the ranks of other One Star restaurants De Mondion, Noni & Under Grain.

Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec expressed his sympathy towards the hospitality industry and those who faced difficulties during such trying times but also highlighted his pleasure in awarding two new stars and five Michelin ‘Plates’.

The restaurants which were awarded the ‘Plate’ were The Fork and Cork, Chophouse, Fernandõ Gastrotheque, Zest and Mezzodi – with Valletta’s Harbour Club, Noni, Briju, De Mondion & Tmun being hailed for the initiatives.

Destiny secures deal with industry giant Sony Music for her track ‘Je Me Casse’

Following interest from multiple giants in the music industry, local artist Destiny has locked in a deal with Sony Music for her Eurovision track ‘Je Me Casse’, which the company believes may be a potential Eurovision winner.

The artists’ management has stated that when a track experiences such widespread interest, it is normally a sign of worldwide appeal for both the track and the artist.

‘Je Me Casse’ has garnered over 3 million views on YouTube, more than half a million streams on Spotify and much more to come.
