Civil Protection Malta has revealed that a staggering 900,000 litres of water were used in the operation to control the massive industrial fire in Ħal Far.

The fire, which broke out on Friday night, required one of the largest emergency responses in recent years.

Firefighters worked through the night and into Saturday morning, with 80 firefighters, 10 senior officers, and 20 fire appliances deployed to the scene.

The sheer volume of water used highlights the scale and intensity of the blaze, as crews battled flames for over 16 hours in a highly coordinated effort.

In a public statement, Civil Protection Malta extended its appreciation to multiple support agencies, including the Malta Police Force, Mater Dei Emergency Department, Malta International Airport Fire Section, Transport Malta, WasteServ, Water Services Corporation, Enemalta, CPD Volunteers, Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit, and St John Ambulance & Rescue Malta.

The operation was a clear display of inter-agency cooperation and logistical efficiency, with the massive water usage reflecting both the difficulty of the situation and the determination of those involved to bring it under control quickly and safely.
