In a significant move for Maltese football, Greek Super League club Panserraikos has officially signed Matthew Guillaumier, captain of the Malta national team. The 27-year-old midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the club, marking a new chapter in his career.
Born in Sliema on 9 April 1998, Guillaumier stands at 1.83 metres and is known for his commanding presence in midfield. Prior to this transfer, he played for Polish side Stal Mielec, where he made 67 appearances, scored five goals, and provided five assists.
Guillaumier built a strong reputation in the Maltese Premier League, representing St Andrews, Birkirkara, and Hamrun Spartans. Throughout his domestic career, he has amassed over 250 appearances, scored 22 goals, and contributed 20 assists. He also boasts two league titles and has been recognised twice as the best player in Malta, breaking the countryโs transfer fee record.
