Kaumba, a stylist from New York City, created the “Granny Series” in 2023, where she styled her grandmother in high-fashion outfits and photographed her in the natural setting of their Zambian farm.
The series quickly gained popularity on Instagram, where Chola, known as “Legendary Glamma,” now has 60.8K followers.

Chola’s fashion includes bold outfits, such as vibrant dresses, jeans with graphic tees, and accessories like pearls, hats, and wigs.
Her granddaughter’s posts often feature Chola posing with personal items, like her radio or cooking brazier, which reflect her daily life in Zambia. The series, especially a photoshoot featuring Chola in a red Adidas dress and a crown, went viral in April 2024, garnering global attention.
Through this experience, Chola has found a new sense of purpose. She urges others to “live their lives” without fear of judgment and to “forgive yourself.”

The project has also deepened the bond between Chola and Kaumba, as they share memories while challenging societal views on aging. Chola’s journey from trauma to global fame highlights the power of self-expression and resilience.
