Gozo Shines At 2025 Orkney Island Games

Gozo is proudly making a name for itself at the 2025 Island Games, currently being held in the remote Scottish islands of Orkney.
Often referred to as the Olympics for island communities, the Island Games bring together islands from across the globe, many of which, while politically tied to other nations, possess strong individual cultural identities.
Participants include Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Bermuda, Guernsey, and the Falkland Islands.
While Malta took part in the first two editions of the Games, it later withdrew due to the event’s focus on non-sovereign islands.
Gozo, however, began competing independently in 2023 and has since embraced the opportunity to represent itself on the international stage.
Accompanying the Gozitan delegation in Orkney is Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, who is actively sharing updates on the island’s achievements and events.
Among the standout moments so far are the Gozitan Women’s football team securing a place in the semi-finals, where they will go head-to-head with Bermuda, and runner Charlton Debono earning a bronze medal in the men’s 10,000-metre race.
With such performances, Gozo continues to shine and showcase its sporting talent on a global island stage.
